Avon Calling!! Or I Made The Paper!

Our favorite Avon lady, Deby, had a fabulous article written about her and Avon for The Athens Banner Herald. It's a great story about Deby's journey as an Avon representative and the history of Avon. She needed a picture of her delivering Avon to someone and called me. I, of course, said YES! I would love to do it!

Here's the link to the article: Avon Calling.

Interesting facts:

A MAN began Avon.

It began in the late 1800s. (Mary Kay, for instance, didn't start until the 60's!) So it's been around for a VERY long time.

Deby was, at one time, the 55th top Avon rep IN THE WORLD! I find that amazing!

I had someone call me, on the OFFICE phone, looking for an Avon rep! I was like, Uh, I sell insurance, but here's Deby's number! LOL

Maybe I need to sign up, too, though....

Me In My Birthday Suit!

Well, what did you expect?
By "Birthday Suit" I meant the cute clothes that I got for my birthday from Joy!
There is nothing better than a best friend.  Except a best friend that has exceptionally good taste.
Oh, and not only did she give me this leopard print sweater (she knows me well), but check out this earring and necklace set from Napier that she got me to go with it.  *sigh*  I am so lucky!

*We interrupt this blog to bring you pictures of Harrison. Apparently this blog needs some "Man Style".  LOL  He is 15 and one of the greatest kids ever!*
Back to me in my birthday suit....

I love this Napier necklace!!!

Jewelry:  Napier-gifted/Joy

My fabulous photographer was the ever talented Kaja (9).  As a matter of fact, she is having so much fun she now tells me where to pose and how! LOL  It is so cute and i think she does a great job.
Today it is over 70 and sunny in Georgia!  I swear it feels like California out there. And for some reason I have this song stuck in my head (must be the sunshine) by Otis Redding.

I'm sittin' on the dock of the bay
Watching the tide roll away
Ooo, I'm just sittin' on the dock of the bay
Wastin' time

I left my home in Georgia
Headed for the 'Frisco bay
'Cause I've had nothing to live for
And look like nothin's gonna come my way

So I'm just gonna sit on the dock of the bay
Watching the tide roll away
Ooo, I'm sittin' on the dock of the bay
Wastin' time

Shiny, Happy People!!

Shiny happy people laughing
Meet me in the crowd
People people
Throw your love around
Love me love me
Take it into town
Happy happy
Put it in the ground
Where the flowers grow
Gold and silver shine

Shiny happy people holding hands
Shiny happy people laughing
Did you know that REM was from here? We used to see them around downtown Athens a lot, back in college. They would just randomly show up somewhere.

I was feeling happy and shiny Friday because A. It was jeans (Gap, 1969 jeans) day and B. I had on my shiny, happy Chuck Taylor All-Stars. Aren't they fabulous?! I got them at Kohl's on clearance for $10!! W00T!! The white button down is a men's Tommy Hilfiger that I got at Goodwill for $5.
Aren't they fabulous?!
Today we went to Lowe's to get a new living room rug and ended up with a rug and 16 bags of mulch and 8 bushes! We checked out some pretty flowers but I'm afraid we're going to have another freeze so I'm going to give it a couple of more weeks. It's been known to snow in Georgia in April, even!

Bad, Bad Bloggers!!

So, we've been somewhat bad bloggers lately. Between our employment changes, camping and LASIX, we've been a little MIA!  We promised to try to do better.

This post is just going to be an outfit catch up post. Let's start with last Friday!

 Cardi:Target
Sequin tank: JCrew
Purple tank: Walmart
Skinny jeans: Old Navy
Silver Shoes: The Academy
Vampire glasses: No idea

LOVE SHACK, BABY!! We went to see The B52s. They were in their/our hometown of Athens, GA last Friday night for a concert they recorded for a dvd release. It was SOOOO much fun!! From Rock Lobster to  Roam to Love Shack to My Own Private Idaho, it was awesome. And my children danced IN PUBLIC! Never thought I'd see that. I wanted to dress fun, and I think I did. But oh my goodness, you should have seen that crowd! WOW.

When I got my eye done last week, we did a little shopping beforehand. And I got these cute dress pants at JCPenney for only $13! And the yellow tee for $6.  YAY!!  for clearance!! The pants almost look like a really dark, shiny denim, but they aren't denim at all.  The sweater is Jones New York and I got it at Goodwill for $5! (Payless shoes)

Yesterday, I wore the new little brown booties I bought that day. What? I was getting a laser to the eye! I deserved new stuff!! LOL They were on CLEARANCE at Belks for $23!!

 Cardi: Target
Shirt: Van Heusen
Khakis: Faded Glory, Walmart

Lise and I actually had breakfast this morning together! Do we have pictures of it? Uh...no. We always have a camera with us  but we can't seem to take pictures together! We're going to try for movie night this weekend and are getting pedicures next week. HOPEFULLY, we'll remember to do pictures!!

Camping Couture?

When it is announced that your annual birthday trip to see family in Indiana has become a trip to the
 KOA-Cherokee, NC campground.  You may think I was disappointed.  W H A T?
There was like NO wireless service, so you will have to get a re-cap of 5 days in 5 pictures.
So, here are the ingredients for a successful birthday in the Smokies.
First, get a visit from your fabulous niece from No Model Lady (a great blog).
I love her even though her beauty eclipses everything!

Second, make sure to wear makeup so you look good for the blog....woops.  Ok, at least smile and PRETEND you are wearing makeup and looking good for the picture.   Seriously, I go low maintenance when camping ladies.

Third and most important, have one of your sisters drive all the way from Indiana with some of her family just to help celebrate my birthday.....at a campground.  That ladies is true love!  We laughed, (I cried) and my kids got to see a very fun side of me! Thanks Charlotte!!

Fourth, take dignified pictures with the birthday candles....y e a h.....
(yes, that's a 4 & 7.  I turned 47-deal with it) lol

Fifth, is to have your sisters family take your family to dinner at
Paula Deens at the Harrah's in Cherokee, NC.  YUM.  I had so much "Gooey Butter Cake"! hello heaven!

Sixth, is to get in touch with your inner self.

Seventh, find some REAL party animals.  Seriously.
And most important....Don't do drugs.  Which brings me to this picture.  It's in an arcade near the entrance to the miniature golf.  I just stood there going "Charlotte, I don't understand".  We just laughed.  But seriously, what the HECK does this mean????  What drugs???  I am so going to lose sleep over this. LOLOL!

I am glad to be back and have missed all my blog reading.  I can't wait to catch up.  Oh, and Brett?  The prairie skirt from the last post?  It was from The Limited!! you are good.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO LISE!!!

Happy Birthday to one of the most beautiful women I know. You are truly as beautiful inside as you are out!

You are one of the best friends anyone could ask for. You're always ready with a smile or a hug or a shoulder to cry on.

You are fun loving and spontaneous.

You are a fabulous wife and mother and always put your family first. And they love you for it.

BUT

I do have to question a couple of style choices:
And this is why Ben calls her Amish. And um...that dude is creepy.
A prairie skirt. You were working it, but in a PRAIRIE skirt!!

 A MULLET? Really?!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!! Hope your day is great!! I LOVE YOU!

(Lise and the family are camping in Cherokee and won't be back til Tuesday. She may not even see this til then!)

Quick LASIX Update

I'm writing this about 5 hours after my surgery and I'm a little blurry and my eye feels like something is in it, very normal, though. But I can see my computer clearly without glasses or contacts! It's so awesome!

It was expensive but worth every.single.penny!  Thanks for all the good thoughts and prayers, y'all!!  I don't know when exactly I'll post cause I can't wear eye makeup for a few days! LOL I have a pirate eye patch I may rock tomorrow!

Tomorrow is a BIG Day!!

Before school silliness
I am having LASIX done tomorrow and I couldn't be more excited!! I am sick of contacts, sick of my glasses. I'm just all bouncy about it!! LOL

I'm going to ask <beg> the doctor to take of pic of me on the table, for the blog. We'll see what happens!!

 Cardi: Target
Striped shirt: Target
Gray cords: JC Penney
Boots: Old!

I had a lot going on yesterday and was supposed to be doing some business outside the office. I did make a few contacts but then I had to change all my plans. I had dressed for comfort and being in and out of the car, though, so it was all good.

I had to take Leah to the doctor. She was feeling puny and coughing. She actually called me from school to come get her and take her to the doctor! This is UNHEARD of from Leah. Leah hasn't even been to the doctor at all in 2 years. And she never calls from school, so I knew she felt rough. She's ok, though. She tested negative for strep and flu. She had to take a breathing treatment, though, and came home with an inhaler.
After we left the doctor, we went to Kohl's. I wanted to look for something to wear for the office pictures we had today. I'm convinced that when you enter Kohl's <and Target> that you enter a time vortex.  You can say you are only going to run in for a minute and the next thing you know, you've been there for an hour!!! I did find a cute cardigan, though!  Here's me this morning:
 Floral cardi: Kohl's
Red tee:Target
Black pencil skirt: Target
Black tights: Target
Shoes: Peace Place Thrift $2!!!!

I'm hoping that next week, I'll be able to share the pictures we took at the office. I have a really fun one on a motorcycle!!

Ok. Wish me luck tomorrow!! Prayers are appreciated!!

PINK or RED?

Lise and I took 5 of our kids shopping Saturday. WHAT were we thinking?!! It seemed like a good idea at the time. It really did.  I don't know what was wrong with our kids Saturday but they were all less than angels! They were fighting and ya yaing and even hitting each other. UGH! And let me tell you, when we all go in somewhere, we take over. Just ask the guys at Gamestop...BOTH Gamestops!  We were going to take pictures of us together. Somehow that didn't happen. I do have pics of me, though, in RED!  I was dressed for Valentine's on Saturday, too.

 Cardigan: Walmart
Red Polka dot shirt: Ebay
Jeans:Gap
Red loafers: So old, I have no idea.

But today I decided to be different. I decided NOT to wear red. I wear it so much anyway. Today, I wore hot pink, instead!  I even have Valentine socks!
 Pink tee: Charlotte Russe
Hot pink sweater: Kohl's
Navy pants: Liz Claiborne
Shoes: JC Penney

Ignore how my shoes need to be polished!

Did you or do you have any big Valentine plans? We did nothing! LOL We exchanged cards and that's it. We don't usually celebrate Valentine's. The biggest fight we EVER had, and I don't even remember what it was about, nor do I want to, was the Valentine's Day the year we married. (We married in March.) We had a screaming match standing over the kitchen counter in our newly built house! We almost called the wedding off, it was that bad.  Obviously, we made up and the fight blew over and we married a month later. But since then, we just kind of ignore Valentine's. Do you blame us?

I hope you've all had a good and wonderful and loving day!

Papa Don't Peach

I love Sunday!  Church, family, good food, relaxation and sunshine today!
What a great combination.
Joy wears red and rocks it.  I don't even own anything red...but that is another story.
I wear strange colors.  Melons, amber's, turquoise all those colors that didn't come in your first box of Crayola Crayons! LOL  But they are the colors that make me happy.
This is one of my favorite outfits because everything is thrifted!  Including the JCrew skirt
(which I snagged for $5).  This also makes me very happy.
One thing about peach is that you can pull in other warm colors with it.  The skirt has a variety of similar colors and with the shirt, cardi and necklace I pulled them all out and they harmonize well.
Instead of the usual brown belt, I went with a dark reddish brick color and turquoise tights.
The tights were the hit of it all!
With the makeup I did do a peach palette but brushed over with a pink color so I didn't look dull and had some liveliness to the face.

My photographer today was my 10 year old son and I think he did a smashing good job!
I still have to figure out what to wear tomorrow for Valentines since I do not own red, or wear red or...
and I need to come up with something good for next Sunday.....because it just might be my birthday.
ps.  is it me or do I look like I am marching in the last two pictures? LOL

GO RED, Week 2! Take Care of You!

Every Friday this month is Go Red. It's to bring attention to women's heart health. Did you know that worldwide 8.6 million women die of heart disease each year? 8 million women, in the US, are currently living with heart disease.  We need to take care of ourselves, Ladies!! We spend a lot of time taking care of everyone else around us, that we tend to neglect ourselves.  Take some time for yourself. Take a walk. Eat an apple. Read a book. Know your risk factors for heart disease.  Just TAKE CARE OF YOU!!  I promise, the world won't fall apart if you take a little time for YOU! If you don't love yourself enough to take care of you, how can you expect anyone else to?

Red turtleneck & necklace:Kohl's
Gray sweater vest: PS Too
Wide legged jeans: PS Too

Any big plans for the weekend? Tomorrow, I plan to sleep late!! And hopefully, spend some time with Lise. Our kids are dying to get together, too!!  And in case I haven't mentioned it, her husband is my new best friend!! He helped me out this week in a big way and I really appreciate it!!

Much, Much Better!!

Color!! I so needed it after looking so blah yesterday! Today I decided I was wearing red. I haven't worn this red suede jacket in ages. I've had it for at least 10 years. I think it came from Macy's. The sleeves are more like a sweater, so the jacket isn't heavy feeling. I throught it on top of a classic black turtleneck, black cords and added some silver jewelry.  I felt better just being in my favorite color!!

What am I doing with my hands?!

Several of you have asked about my new job. It's going great. I feel like I'm picking up new things everyday and other things are becoming easier.  I really do like it. I need to make some more sales. Call me for insurance, People! LOL

Sunday, Ben and I went grocery shopping. I love my husband and I love going places with him and I love that he even wanted to go with me. BUT don't you find that your grocery bill is at least 1/3 higher when your spouse or child(ren) go shopping with you?  In some ways, he is worse than the kids! Anyway, we  hadn't been anywhere all weekend, so I used the occasion to create a new outfit. I thought it turned out pretty cute.

Striped Shirt: J Crew
Skirt: Ann Taylor Loft
Brown Boots & Tights: Target
Blue Socks: Stolen from Hubby!!
Necklace: From Lise

Close up of necklace from Lise. Isn't it cute?

I'm trying to catch up on y'all's blogs, I really am. I may not always comment, but I am still reading!!
