These Boots Were Made For Walkin'

These boots were made for walkin'
And that's just what they'll do.
And one of these days these boots
are gonna walk all over you...
(are you singing along with this???)
LOL

Actually, what I want to walk all over is the floor of my house.
But it is under re-construction and the main level is chaos.
I know what it's like to live in a beehive, and honey it is NOT the bee's knees.
For weeks I have had people swarming my house before 8am.
It's practically given me hives as I comb through trying to find things.
(OK, I'm done with the bee thing)

We are adding on to our house in preparation for MIL moving in.  It is interesting getting Spouse and 4 kids out the door and get ready for work with all these people in and around my house.
Decorating for Christmas became futile and has come to a stop because everything was getting dusty and such.  I also have to be real careful getting ready in the morning so I don't run into a worker with nothing but a towel on (I don't know who was more embarrassed).  LOL

Spouse says I'm a Trooper.
Yeah, maybe a Storm Trooper!
Then its just moving MIL into the house and getting ready for Christmas and...

I need a new pair of boots.  And I decided that I deserved them.
It's Stress therapy 101-Go shopping
And wear your favorite color green with your favorite necklace and you will smile through it all.
This cardi is great except that the cute little slit pockets have gold sequins......on the inside!
I am going to have to "mod" it this weekend so you can actually see the coolness.
Why would you put the *bling* on the INSIDE of the pocket??
C'mon designers.  I'm going to have to fix this sometime.

I look like "Lise the Peg Leg Pirate". ha

I stuck this one in from yesterday because it looks like there are balls orbiting my head. This is what happens when I am thinking, no light bulb goes off, but little balls orbit my head.
Hey, don't forget to come back and invite your friends.
Monday we are excited because we have a really cool guest blogger.
Really cool.  I can't wait.

Oooh La Leopard!

My lipgloss from Rue21 matches my skirt!  Yippee!
I hate getting dressed.  As I read comments from the post Joy wrote yesterday, I was happy to hear that I am not the only one who looks in the mirror and says "Could you have given me a little more to work with here God"?  I am 46 and still waiting for puberty to hit and the boobs to come in.  It's like Linus waiting for the Great Pumpkin.  It is NOT going to happen.  20 years ago it wasn't so bad, but 4 kids later (nursing did not enhance anything except my babies immune system) YIKES.  Being tall is something I have had to grow into. It was terrible at dances because I couldn't sit down or some cute short guy would ask me to dance and then I would stand up and *awkward* I am now 2 ft. taller than you.  I walked around slouching and still have the habit of doing that when talking with others.  And finding pants was basically impossible.  A 36 inch inseam?  Yeah, they didn't used to have a tall section 30 years ago.  When I saw cropped pants come in style I rejoiced!!

I think I have found the evil source of my body image though.  No, not Barbie.  Nancy Drew!!!!  Curse you girl!  I read them when I was young and pulled some from my collection to read with my daughter.  I quickly realized that there are some nasty stereotypes going on in this book!  There is Nancy who is perfect and her cousin "George" who has short hair because she is sporty and then there is poor Bess.  Bess is constantly referred to as pudgy.  George and Nancy refer to her size CONSTANTLY!  There are pages of these two discussing whether Bess should have more than a SALAD!!  Then you look at the sketchy pictures in the book.  Have you seen the pictures of Bess????  She is not pudgy.  She is thin.  Oh my gosh, Bess probably developed an eating disorder by her senior year of college which is why we don't hear anything more about these girls.  I vowed never to let this happen to my daughter who by the books standard is sporty and pudgy.  Jeeez!

My daughter and I are now reading Little Women.

Today I wanted to keep up my trying something new thing. I try to copy some of the current stars *sigh* but I was born in the wrong era because the style icons I truly love are people like Grace Kelly.  So with my love for the classics I try to add an new twist.

"What did you just say to me?
I am NOT skinny, I'm WILLOWY I tell ya!

And yes, I still slouch a little, and I may not be perfect.  But I am the perfect ME! (and having a leopard print skirt from the clearance rack doesn't hurt either).   I heard once that the most common failing in people is to depreciate their tremendous worth.  Don't do it ladies!  Each of you have more worth than you can imagine.  One great thing about being my age is that I have learned to have more courage than I thought was possible, developed a strength and depth that is not there at  21, earned some serious laugh lines from a L O T of laughing, and enjoyed friendships that will last a lifetime!  One of the things that hasn't changed is my desire to constantly try new things.  This blog was one of those things, but Joy and I enjoy every day of it.  We hope you are able to take something good away from it (not our identities though...lol)
