I was going to title this To Tuck or Not To Tuck until I realized that I've worn pink 3 times in the last week!  And honestly, I just liked this picture.  Blake can be quite the little photographer, when he wants to be.

This outfit is why I was going to post about tucking or not.  I couldn't decided whether it looked better with the shirt tucked in or left out.  Oh and this entire outfit was thrifted!!! The shirt and the skirt both came from PS Too, which benefits Project Safe. And the shoes are from Goodwill. The purse is from Atlanta's Thrift Store. Not sure where the belt came from!  Ok. You vote.

We can wear jeans to work on Fridays. Last Friday, I just wanted to be comfortable.  So I picked this Hilfiger pink polo and my favorite denim Target capris, but I didn't have any shoes. Well....Leah has these really cute pink Converse All Stars slides....maybe, she'll let me borrow them.  And she did! I think they made the casual outfit!!

By the way....I wore the shirt tucked into the skirt!  Elegant Bohemian, I credit YOU for making me realize that I need to tuck things in!!

Lisa, Lisa, Lise!

We need to meet more of you!  Why?  Because you are all pretty wonderful and I had so much fun meeting Lisa G. that I hope to meet more of you!  A while back I re-connected with a friend from high school on Facebook.  That was so much fun and we were able to see each other at Thanksgiving.  She also "introduced" me to one of her friends in D.C. on Facebook.  Lisa G. and I had a great time getting to know each other in writing and she also started reading our blog. (thanks, we love readers). 

Then she let me know she was coming to do training in Atlanta and would love to meet Joy and I!  Oh yeah!
By the way, Joy's first name is Lisa and she goes by her middle name (Joy).  Hence the title of this post.  Joy, do not kill me for telling everyone.  I had to resort to the real migraine medicine last night and should not be trusted with a pencil let alone a computer with a blog! LOL

So, Friday I am all nervous and excited and.....TaDa!  I meet Lisa G. outside the salon and immediately notice that her haircut is uneven.  So we start with a haircut.  We drove over to meet Joy and sat there talking and cutting up and all I can say is...WOW, what a cool lady!  We also drove to my house and Lisa was so gracious in meeting my MIL, Ida.   And Ida was so pleased to have a visitor!

Lisa G. has an amazing history and family and job (Spouse secretly thinks she is over the CIA now) and stories and I can't wait to see her again.  Want to see some pictures?  You got it!

PS: At this time of year when skies are darker and days are shorter, play up the sun with color!  Melons are a great choice (color, and eating).  Orange and pink are an unexpected but happy combination!  They love to hang out together!

Let It Snow, Let It Snow, Let It Snow!!

No, not really! Just kidding! I HATE snow. It's cold, wet and messy. Yuck! But I do love snowflakes. Go figure. I have a collection of snowflake pendants, earrings and pins and you can see I'm wearing several of them today. Penguins, snowflakes and palm trees. There's no rhyme or reason to my collecting, is there?

The other pin I'm wearing is one from my grandmother. It's pretty old. When she died 10 years ago, I picked this out of her things. It always makes me think of her and the little ceramic Christmas tree she always put on top of her console tv. Anyone else's grandmother have a tree like this:

This is not the actual tree we have, but it looks just like this.

 My mama has this tree now. And she puts it out every year. I bet this thing is 40 years old! Does your family have any kind of traditions like this? Or do you have a special ornament or Christmas piece?

Actually, what I want to walk all over is the floor of my house. 

But it is under re-construction and the main level is chaos.

I know what it's like to live in a beehive, and honey it is NOT the bee's knees.

For weeks I have had people swarming my house before 8am.  

It's practically given me hives as I comb through trying to find things.

(OK, I'm done with the bee thing)

We are adding on to our house in preparation for MIL moving in.  It is interesting getting Spouse and 4 kids out the door and get ready for work with all these people in and around my house.  

Decorating for Christmas became futile and has come to a stop because everything was getting dusty and such.  I also have to be real careful getting ready in the morning so I don't run into a worker with nothing but a towel on (I don't know who was more embarrassed).  LOL

Spouse says I'm a Trooper. 

Yeah, maybe a Storm Trooper!

Then its just moving MIL into the house and getting ready for Christmas and...

I need a new pair of boots.  And I decided that I deserved them.

This cardi is great except that the cute little slit pockets have gold sequins......on the inside!

I am going to have to "mod" it this weekend so you can actually see the coolness.

A Warm Coat That Doesn't Give You The Cold Shoulder!

 I am at the pharmacy, strep has run through the kids and this is about my 50th time to CVS.  But, now I'm getting a prescription for me because somehow the laws of the universe broke and now I have it.   Anyhoo, he hands me my prescriptions and I ask "Does this need to be refrigerated?".  Our pharmacist looks at me and replies "No, Mrs. Tyner, they're pills".  Duh.

I have the mental capacity of a circus poodle about now, thank you.

The good thing is that I "happened" to find one of my Christmas gifts and immediately put it on.  It is freezing and I *need* it.  It is also about the most adorable, well fitting coat ever in the whole wide world of coats!

I have long gorilla arms that are only good for hugging people and playing volleyball....NOT finding coats.  By the time I find one with long enough sleeves, 3 of me could fit into the rest of it.  I do not particularly like puffer coats either because I feel like a penguin and walk like one too.   

 Then I found this coat at Coldwater Creek! 

YAY!  It is warm & sleeveless, but I don't have a cold shoulder.  It has adjustable straps on the side that are ever so cute and the color is dreamy.  The most important thing is the fur collar. I am a sucker for faux fur!!!  This is me yesterday when I stopped by to pass on some germs to Joy and take her picture for the blog.



Joy laughed because she said my hair is the same color as the fur collar! lol



 This is also one of my favorite hats which I tend to wear when am sick because it hides bedhead!

Now on to today!  I am back at work and wearing green and chocolate brown!  I love the colors together.  For some fun I added my kitten heel shoes from Target which are not only comfy, but so chic!  WinWin!

 I am feeling a bit "Mad Men" today which is totally me.  But almost every piece came from Coldwater Creek (and on sale right now). I also threw on a fur collar that I "stole" from another sweater.

A vintage pin holds it in place.

I don't look happy!  Probably because I just had to take another pill the size of a Prius! 

Isn't there some type of size limit? 

I can hear the chemists now:

"Do you think we made these pills too large?"

"Why no, Mrs. Tyner can fit in a Prius, so I am sure she can swallow one"

You Ain't Nothing But A Hound Dog...

Or a HOUNDSTOOTH dog!  HA! See what I did there? I crack myself up.

 Before we get into what I'm wearing, let's take a minute to remember Pearl Harbor. It was bombed 69 years ago today. My daddy was exactly 6 months old that day. Isn't that kinda weird? It is most definitely a day that will live in infamy. I've never been to Pearl Harbor, but I have always wanted to go and pay my respects to all the brave men that lost their lives that day.

Ok, on to more mundane things like my outfit! I love this jacket and turtleneck from Coldwater Creek, but today I'm feeling like it makes me look matronly. You can't tell in the pictures but there are squares in the coat that are the exact color of my pants, but they look gray in the pictures. :/ Maybe I should have gone all black underneath. What do you think? I've also worn it with a purple top and black pants. And a red top and black pants. It got a lot of wear last year. The pants are Liz Claiborne and the boots are from Walmart, actually.  The cameo ring is from Charming Charlies and the bracelet and necklace are from Charlotte Russe.

So, Lise is sick with strep throat and hasn't been here in 2 days. Let's all send prayers and good wishes and vibes to her for a speedy recovery and a return to work!

***It's December***

What ever is special at this time to you - Let's celebrate!  But, I have a confession....

I LOVE CHRISTMAS!  The smells, the sounds, the cool air, the excitement...everything.

Christmas is soooo Sparkly. 

I also appreciate that growing up my parents encouraged us to learn about the way others celebrate this time.  And I learned that even with Christmas itself there were many different ways people celebrated.  With my Danish background, there were a lot of things that we did which my friends did not.  But they were our traditions and I love them.  For as long as I can remember, we celebrated Christmas Eve with another family who's father is from Norway.  We ate (no, seriously...we ATE), sang Scandinavian carols and played games.  These were some of the happiest times of my life. 

(OK, on to the fashion. Can you tell that I love this time of year?)



Oooh, what did Joy get me?

Today after getting dressed, my 8yr old stopped and said "You need a POP of color".  She then runs off and comes back with a scarf from her closet and says "I think this will do nicely".   Yeah, she's been reading the blog! LOL  And she was right!  I love this scarf and it is just the right pop of color for the outfit today. 

The jacket is from Coldwater Creek which I got on clearance last spring and LOVE.  The velvety texture is great and it is lined and very comfortable.  I saw they have these-or very similar-online right now.

 So, I just had to add a little anecdote here.  When my parents got married, my father gave Mother the most beautiful set of Royal Copenhagen china as a gift.  It has service for an army, and had every eating, serving, whatever piece imaginable!  Growing up we at on this for lots of special occasions.  

B U T

No one....and I mean no single soul (besides my mom) EVER washed it! 
EVER.

That way if any piece broke, she would not want to kill us.  OK, she was too sweet for that, but none of us wanted that kind of guilt to carry around the rest of our lives.  They have been married almost 56 years, had 6 kids, and haven't lost any pieces! 
This Thanksgiving all that changed.  My brother, Wayne, and I got to be the first ever! 
Look at us, we are hand washing the Royal Copenhagen!!!!!

And we are laughing.  I don't know why. 
It looks like I'm telling him that I am going to blame him if something breaks.  heeheehee

 Aaaah, memories.
