Sisterhood of The Traveling Pants

“Sweet, crazy conversations full of half sentences, daydreams and misunderstandings more thrilling than understanding could ever be.”
Toni Morrison, Beloved

Today was a fabulous day! And we really didn't have any traveling pants, unless you count  Lise's sister, Charlotte's, who came to visit from Indiana. Guess which one she is? LOL We spent the morning running an errand or two and then met Wendy and her cutie, Micah, and Leah and her 3 cuties, Robert, Richard and new cutie, William, for lunch at Olive Garden. So.much.FUN! We laughed and talked, a few may have teared up, and just enjoyed each other. After that, Lise and Charlotte and I did a little thrifting! We all ended up with some cute jewelry pieces that we'll have to show off later. And I found a PALM TREE scarf. Naturally, I had to have it. Yeah, sadly, it was full price and not thrifted. But it was palm trees. I HAD to have it. It's a rule.

We had THE best time at lunch today.  Anyone going by our table would have thought that we had all known each other FOREVER or that we were all related.  And thought I'm not as close to some as others, I KNOW without a shadow of a doubt, if I ever needed anything at all, any one of these women would be there in a minute!! And I just LOVE this picture!! Seriously, Ladies, we need to do this regularly instead of like once a year!!

And that's what friendship and sisterhood is about, isn't it? Being there for one another. A shoulder to cry on, someone to share joys with, someone to be silly with. To know that no matter what happens, good, bad, or ugly, you can count on your friends to be there, even if you disagree. Sometimes, you need that someone that you know will kick your butt and get you going, to tell you that you're being stupid, or that No, you actually don't need another purse! LOL And sometimes, you need someone to just let you cry, and someone to just laugh with and forget all the other things going on, or to just gossip and be all judgey with. (Don't judge! You know you do it, too.LOL)

“For there is no friend like a sister
In calm or stormy weather;
To cheer one on the tedious way,
To fetch one if one goes astray,
To lift one if one totters down,
To strengthen whilst one stands”

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!

Yeah. I'm almost a week late, but it's still the new year, right?!

It's been so long since I've posed, I think I've forgotten how!  Doncha love the skull sweater? It's from the boy's department at Target and I HAD to have it!!

I hope you all had a fabulous Christmas or Hanukkah!  What kind of good stuff did you get?

I got some money, which is always nice, penguin pjs and bracelets from my Leah. Ben and I don't exchange, because we buy all year long.  I used some of my money to get these AWESOME Wonder Woman shoes that I've wanted forever. Ben has the Superman ones, so, of course, I had to have these!!  Aren't they geektastic?!

And speaking of geektastic! Leah and I had seen some awesome painted shoes online. In fact Leah Hollett's brother does some fabulous painted shoes. My Leah wanted to try it out. So I bought her 3 pair of Ked's from a thrift store. Grand total 3.99. I bought paint at Hobby Lobby for 7.00.  I washed them and told her to have at it.  THIS is what I came home to:

TARDIS shoes!!! Eeeeeeeeeeeeee!!! My child knows me so very well! I almost cried. I know I squealed.  She did such a good job!!  I love them so much!! I have them on in the top picture!

The kids got lots of things. They got a couple of remote controlled helicopters and remote controlled bumper cars.  The dog was not amused. The dog didn't like Christmas.  See? Poor pitiful puppy.

So, tell me about your holidays!

Hi. Remember Me?

Yes, I've been very, very MIA pretty much the last year. I've been around, though. I'm still reading everyone's blogs. I stalk Pinterest quite a bit, too.  And I've just been introduced to Instagram. Instagram is AWESOME!   I don't know what took me so long!

I didn't really mean to just abandon the blog and all of you. But when you are only wearing team colors pretty much everyday, it gets boring.  And I've almost forgotten how to dress, when I'm NOT a work!

I did have a FABULOUS find this week and last week, at Goodwill.  My husband has always wanted one of those Original Australian Outback oilskin dusters. Why? I don't know, but he has.  They retail for about $250. So, uh. NO.  Lise and I found one at Goodwill this week. $9!!!  I was clutching it to me like a baby.  She's like, don't you want to put that in the cart. NO. No, I don't. They may realize what they have and take it from me, or worse, mark it up! LOL  Hubby was one happy man. I think it makes up for the coat that I apparently, accidentally gave to Goodwill. Oops.  It looks like this:

Last week, Ben and I were at Goodwill. The man loves it as much as I. We've been talking about recovering our dining room chairs for ages now. But we're cheap. And I didn't want to pay a bunch of money for fabric, and I really hadn't seen anything I liked. Well, I found a huge bolt of fabric at Goodwill. We really don't even know how many yards it is, but it's way more than enough to cover the chairs. $18!!  Score!

And because I know y'all are going to ask. Lise is good. She is busy as ever! Leah is also doing very well and staying busy with a house full of kiddies!

So, if you are still interested in me and my life, follow me on Instagram-joybaby2558. It will definitely be updated more than the blog! LOL

Overhaul

I'm bored and I think y'all are too. I've been taking a little break to have a fun summer with the kiddos and brainstorm some ways to amp up the blog. Stay tuned for great changes. And if you have any suggestions on how to make this blog more appealing to you please leave a comment!

Same Song Different Verse

I've done this skirt and belt before with a striped shirt... but this is a new better fitting striped shirt and different cardi and red shoes. Same idea but evolving into a better outfit.

How I wore it last summer. What do you think? Is this outfit getting better... or worse?

Dibby Double Dot

Why wear one polka dot print when you can wear two!?!

I wore this to church yesterday but switched out the aqua cardi for my blushy pink one. This skirt is 100% silk that I found at Peace Place and it came with a very wide detachable sash. I wore the skirt very high, just under the bust line and tied the the sash flat against my waist. The end result is a very wide band, high waisted skirt. I was very pleased with the results.

Triple Blocked

I always like the color blocking look but when I try to do it with just two colors I feel "meh" but when I add a third color I get excited. (Side note: I also usually hang my pictures in groups of three. Is this some sort of sign of mental illness? or genius? you decide!)

What do you think? Just enough, not enough or way too much?
