Hi. Remember Me?

Yes, I've been very, very MIA pretty much the last year. I've been around, though. I'm still reading everyone's blogs. I stalk Pinterest quite a bit, too.  And I've just been introduced to Instagram. Instagram is AWESOME!   I don't know what took me so long!

I didn't really mean to just abandon the blog and all of you. But when you are only wearing team colors pretty much everyday, it gets boring.  And I've almost forgotten how to dress, when I'm NOT a work!

I did have a FABULOUS find this week and last week, at Goodwill.  My husband has always wanted one of those Original Australian Outback oilskin dusters. Why? I don't know, but he has.  They retail for about $250. So, uh. NO.  Lise and I found one at Goodwill this week. $9!!!  I was clutching it to me like a baby.  She's like, don't you want to put that in the cart. NO. No, I don't. They may realize what they have and take it from me, or worse, mark it up! LOL  Hubby was one happy man. I think it makes up for the coat that I apparently, accidentally gave to Goodwill. Oops.  It looks like this:

Last week, Ben and I were at Goodwill. The man loves it as much as I. We've been talking about recovering our dining room chairs for ages now. But we're cheap. And I didn't want to pay a bunch of money for fabric, and I really hadn't seen anything I liked. Well, I found a huge bolt of fabric at Goodwill. We really don't even know how many yards it is, but it's way more than enough to cover the chairs. $18!!  Score!

And because I know y'all are going to ask. Lise is good. She is busy as ever! Leah is also doing very well and staying busy with a house full of kiddies!

So, if you are still interested in me and my life, follow me on Instagram-joybaby2558. It will definitely be updated more than the blog! LOL

Overhaul

I'm bored and I think y'all are too. I've been taking a little break to have a fun summer with the kiddos and brainstorm some ways to amp up the blog. Stay tuned for great changes. And if you have any suggestions on how to make this blog more appealing to you please leave a comment!

Same Song Different Verse

I've done this skirt and belt before with a striped shirt... but this is a new better fitting striped shirt and different cardi and red shoes. Same idea but evolving into a better outfit.

How I wore it last summer. What do you think? Is this outfit getting better... or worse?

Dibby Double Dot

Why wear one polka dot print when you can wear two!?!

I wore this to church yesterday but switched out the aqua cardi for my blushy pink one. This skirt is 100% silk that I found at Peace Place and it came with a very wide detachable sash. I wore the skirt very high, just under the bust line and tied the the sash flat against my waist. The end result is a very wide band, high waisted skirt. I was very pleased with the results.

Triple Blocked

I always like the color blocking look but when I try to do it with just two colors I feel "meh" but when I add a third color I get excited. (Side note: I also usually hang my pictures in groups of three. Is this some sort of sign of mental illness? or genius? you decide!)

What do you think? Just enough, not enough or way too much?

Variations on a Theme

I've really been getting into the mixing and matching of just a few articles of clothing lately. I don't know if it's because I'm bored and like a challenge or because some of these items are my favorites and I don't want to stop wearing them... It's probably a little of both.

Pushing Down Daisies

Now normally I would wear a brooch near my collar bone but today I thought I'd try it down on my hip. This skirt is too big so I do what any normal person would do... I wore it anyway! I simply make a pleat with my hands so that the zipper is still accessible and pin it. I usually just use a safety pin but today my daisy pin fit the bill.

Sunrise, Sunset?

This skirt reminds me of the "Is the glass half full or half empty?" question. Does this skirt remind you of a sunrise or a sunset? I wore this outfit on my birthday and not only felt fabulous in it I received SEVERAL complimetns from total strangers. Nothing like that to make you feel good on the first day of the last year of your twenties huh?

Oh AND y'all know how much I love pattern mixing!
Skirt is 100% silk from Talbots and the shirt is J-Crew. Both from Goodwill. Seriously? Does it get better than that? So... what did you wear on YOUR birthday?

Polka-Mint

I have found that I can wear only certain shades of pink. Deep magenta and this rosey blush shade. I attempt to wear other shades of pink like in Bubblegum Western but I always end up feeling washed out and oinkish... like a little pink piglet. I knew I wanted to put navy with this mint skirt and this cardi just seemed to complete the family. What say you?

Phenomenal Cosmic Power

... itty bitty living space. You know how everyone talks about "power suits"? Well... this is my power skirt. Everytime I wear it I feel like I could waltz into anyplace and land a job or boss people around or wow a crowd. Just ANYTHING! I wore this skirt to an interview with the GOP nominating committee, and while I was not chosen as a delegate for the RNC, I do feel like I hit my interview outta the park. I give credit to the skirt... oh and my winning personality ;P
So... what do YOU wear when you want to rule the world?

May Day

Growing up we always made a big deal about May Day. We always dressed up and delivered flowers to our neighbors. I decided to wear my most floral outfit to celebrate the day!
What do you think? Too much? Not enough?

Freedom Cuffs

Remember when "we" were mad at France and so people starting calling them "Freedom Fries" instead of "French Fries"? So when I rolled the bottom of these pants are they "Freedom Cuffs"?
I have since sewn these pants to be skinnies and don't have to cuff them anymore. The scarf WAS a pashmina until I cut in lengthwise... Pants- Express, thrifted $1. Striped T- Wal-Mart, sale rack $3. Scarf- thrifted $1. Cropped cardi- Macy's ??? Years ago...

What's a Motto?

Nothing. What's a motto with you? My new motto for life right now is "If you harass enough people, you'll get exactly what you want."

I've been working ona scheme to have a political rally here in Athens, GA. And let me tell you this: Dreams DO come true! We have an historic venue we have some awesome talent( here and here)We are working on some big name speakers... and we will be having some local folks do short speeches. (I might be one of them!) I'm ok with all of this. The plans are getting smoothed out, the fundraising is going well, ads in newspapers etc... are being placed, and people are getting excited!

Here's the problem... WHAT AM I GOING TO WEAR!?!??!?! There will more than likely be over 1000 people there! EEK! Suggestions ladies. Let's here 'em!

I want something fun and funky, but classic and comfortable. Not too casual and not too dressy. Help me out here friends. PLEASE!
