In The Pink!

I was going to title this To Tuck or Not To Tuck until I realized that I've worn pink 3 times in the last week!  And honestly, I just liked this picture.  Blake can be quite the little photographer, when he wants to be.

Here's the whole  outfit:

 Pink blouse: Van Heusen, OLD!
Embroidered capris: Christopher & Banks
Sandals: Goodwill

I don't actually have another full length picture of me looking at the camera! I was trying to see what Jake was trying to get into! I love these capris because they are embroidered with palm trees and the ocean. And we all know how much I love palm trees!!

This outfit is why I was going to post about tucking or not.  I couldn't decided whether it looked better with the shirt tucked in or left out.  Oh and this entire outfit was thrifted!!! The shirt and the skirt both came from PS Too, which benefits Project Safe. And the shoes are from Goodwill. The purse is from Atlanta's Thrift Store. Not sure where the belt came from!  Ok. You vote.

Tucked:
Pink Blouse: Kohl's via PS Too, $4
Floral Skirt: Coldwater Creek via PS Too, $8
Carlos Santana Sandals: Goodwill, $5
Nine West Leather Bag: Atlanta's Thrift, $3

Untucked:
 Accessories
Watch: Charming Charlie at Mall of Georgia
Ring: Cute little boutique in Savannah, GA

We can wear jeans to work on Fridays. Last Friday, I just wanted to be comfortable.  So I picked this Hilfiger pink polo and my favorite denim Target capris, but I didn't have any shoes. Well....Leah has these really cute pink Converse All Stars slides....maybe, she'll let me borrow them.  And she did! I think they made the casual outfit!!

By the way....I wore the shirt tucked into the skirt!  Elegant Bohemian, I credit YOU for making me realize that I need to tuck things in!!

Of "Lillys" and Dragonflies

Hey, Blogworld!! Yes. I know. I've been MIA, and I'm sorry. I just haven't been feeling it, you know? I haven't wanted to have my picture taken. I  don't know what's been wrong with me. I just wasn't feeling it.

And I SHOULD be feeling it because Spring and Summer are my seasons! I LIVE for warm (HOT) weather. I also get a little Spring Fever and just want to play hooky from everything!  But, I'm back! I promise to try to post more. It won't be everyday, but I'll try at least a couple of times a week.

So, yesterday, Lise posted a picture of me in a cute, floral Coldwater Creek skirt that I scored at PS Too for $6. It still had the tags on it, people!  Viktoria, from Viktoria with a K,  said I looked "Lilly" inspired. Well, today I decided to actually wear some Lilly. Lilly Pulitzer, of course. I don't know if Lilly is big where you are, but it definitely is, in the South.  This skirt is another SCORE. I found this skirt, again, WITH TAGS, in a thrift store in Commerce, GA.  The tag said $119. I paid $8!! HOLY BARGAIN BATMAN!   AFTER I paid, I asked the girl if she knew what she had. (There were 2 more on the rack.) She said, No. It's just a skirt. I was like, Sweetie. It's a Lilly. You may not know what it is but those sorority girls at UGA do. Mark them up to $25 and put them on Craigslist during Rush Week! LOL

It's a reversible wrap skirt! I'll wear the other side another day.
Isn't that watch cute?! Leah found it when we went to Charming Charlie on Tuesday. I was going to be GOOD and just look, but she knows my weakness. And it is palm trees. A watch with palm trees AND a sparkly turtle?! Yes, please!
A few weeks ago, Lise brought me back the cutest dragonfly earrings from Dollywood. (In the picture above) They are like stained glass. I seriously don't know how I ever lived without these earrings. If I can't figure out what earrings are going to match, I know the dragonflies will! I think I've worn them 3 or 4 days a week since she gave them to me!!

There seems to be one other item I can't seem to live without lately. And that's my nude, thong sandals. Yes. I'm calling them thong sandals and NOT flip flops! They seem to go with EVERYTHING. And they were another score. Goodwill. $5. I don't think they'd ever been worn. The bottoms didn't look like they'd ever touched the ground. And I beat Lise to them! HA!
Got any article of clothing or piece of jewelry that you can't seem to live without?

Change Is In The Air

So, this weekend brought some changes to my life. I am leaving my job after 17 years for a new job. I've spent 12 of those years with my current boss. And I'm not leaving because of him. He's great. I'm just ready to spread my wings further than State Farm will allow them to go. It's a little scary, but in a good way.  I'll be starting the new job next Tuesday. It's still in insurance, though, just with an independent agency.  Oh and the best part? It's just down the street from our favorite resale store, PSToo!! YAY! Lise can come meet me for lunch and we can go shop!!

But, enough about my job situation, let's talk about my outfit! This whole outfit was thrifted  at Goodwill except the boots and polka dot tights. (Can you see the little white polka dots in the blouse, too?) The whole outfit, excluding the jewerly, is less than $45!

Sweater: Jones New York, $5
Blouse: 5th Avenue, $5
Skirt: Faded Glory, $6
Boots: Kohl's, $19
Tights: Target, $5
Belt: Rue21, $3

Let Me Be Your Teddy Bear

Put a chain around my neck, and lead me anywhere. Oh let me be....your teddy bear.

The kids went back to school today. They were hating life this morning. It's been 17 days of staying up late and sleeping in. 6:30 was a shock to their systems! And it's report card day. I wonder if that had anything to do with it? LOL

I finally learned how to use the self timer on my camera!! I'm so proud of myself. But, man, it's hard to take pictures of yourself! I miss Lise being here every day to do it!!! I just miss Lise period!!

Today I am trying to be Elvis' teddy bear in my cardigan with the fur collar and cuffs. It's so cozy and I keep wanting to pet myself. (And apparently, I'm on a fur kick!) I got this cardi at Goodwill this weekend. It was new with the tags!! And it was only $5!! I paired it with my teddy bear brown wool skirt from Gap that was also thrifted from Goodwill for $5. And my new brown boots from Target. I think my skirt may be a touch short. Hmmm... Oh, well. I felt I needed some color and chose this teal Ann Taylor blouse. The necklace I have on, I got for Christmas last year and I think this may be the first time I've ever worn it. I have a hard time figuring out what earrings to put with it because it's so chunky. I ended up with silver hoops but it seems boring. Any ideas?
Close up so you can see the necklace.

What A Difference A Week Makes!

Last weekend it was freezing cold and snow on the ground. This weekend it was sunshine and 60 degrees. I like this weekend much better, even if it did rain some on Saturday.

Saturday was spent doing not a lot of anything. We watched some movies, did some laundry and ate our traditional New Years lunch of pork chops, black eyed peas, turnip greens and cornbread. It was even better because Ben cooked it! I did contribute brownies to the meal. Doesn't it look good?

Here's what I wore just hanging out at the house. And look, it still has bling on it! I don't know how well you can see it, but there's bling up the zipper and down the side of the pants. And I also wore my old school Tretorns.

Sunday we slept late and went looking for a bicycle or an elliptical for Ben. He finally settled on an elliptical. He is apparently going to get in shape. I should probably use it, too.  We also went to Goodwill again where I found a tan cardigan with a fur collar and fur cuffs AND it still had the tags on it!! $5. I love Goodwill.  Since it was warmish, I wore my thrifted red Ann Taylor sweater with my handmade, by Leah Hollett, flower pin. I paired it with my black Walmart Faded Glory jeans and my leopard flats from Target.

It's been so nice being off for 3 days. I really dread going back to work tomorrow. Even more, I kind of dread the kids going back to school because it means I have to get up an hour earlier!!
