Time for a Change...

My fellow Americans, and bloggers worldwide.
(cue patriotic music-it's not really here-just pretend)
It is time for a change!
Things can't stay the way they are. This week I am going to show you that you can INDEED teach an old dog new tricks!
I am (hopefully) going to show you that even women over 40 can be fashionable,
daring, exciting, and worthy of a second glance over your shoulder!!
I am going to shop in stores I have never been into before.
I pledge to wear colors heretofor only found on animals and at Woodstock!
Yes, I Lise, am going to leave.......MY COMFORT ZONE!!!
Hopefully I can pave the way for others to take off their
L.L. Bean jumpers and white Keds, and follow me.

This is me today. My style is very classic, flowy and about as
daring as an Amish girl*
(I love you Coldwater Creek, but you are NOT exactly daring...or exciting)
BUT, thats about to change...

Can I do it?
YES, I can!......Stay tuned.....
Thank you, thank you very much.....
*No offense meant to any Amish people.

A Series Of Unfortunate Events

Is it time to go yet?

Whew! Friday. We made it. It's been quite the week around here. My boss started the week off by hitting a deer on the way to work. Very little damage, thank goodness. Lise's dog chewed up her shoe. And this morning, I backed into my husband's new car with my new car!! What do all these things have in common? They are all RED. What does this mean?!! I hope it doesn't mean bad things for the Dawgs!!

My kids were fighting like dogs this morning. I don't even know what they were fighting about, but it was coming to blows! Do your kids fight like that? It drives me nuts. The fighting continued into the car and me trying to break it up is what caused me to back into  his car. I haven't even made the first payment on them yet!! ARRGGHH!!! Needless to say, they are grounded for infinity. It was not a good start to the day. As we pull into the school parking lot, my child realizes that for the 3rd day in a row, he has left his lunch money check on the counter!!! The check that I have reminded him a dozen times to put in his bookbag. So I'm writing a check in car riders this morning. Peaceful mornings, easy mornings must be nice. Could a girl get one of those?

BUT, there was a bright spot this morning. We have a wonderful vendor and friend that comes to see us about every month or so. And this morning she dropped by with a bag of Milano cookies!! It's like she KNEW!! <grabs another cookie> Heaven!

So, I took inspiration for this outfit from Heidi Klum. <puts cookie back> I didn't want to wear the heels, though, cause it's cold this morning. I added my boots. I love sequins. Sequins make me happy.

My inspiration

Wool Blazer: Thrifted $5
Sequin J Crew Tank: $9
WalMart Jeggings: $12
Boots: I have no idea
My poor, poor car!
Damage: Less than deductible :(

Here's hoping for an great weekend for everyone!!

Doggone Fashion

Looking Dog tired??? lol

My outfit today came about by a series of unfortunate events. Let me explain. "No, there is too much to explain, let me sum up" (why yes, I have memorized all the lines from The Princess Bride).

After driving 4 kids to 3 schools, its back home and get dressed for work. I'm all dressed except for my shoes. I go to get my favorite shoes. I truly love these shoes. Leather ballet flats from Ann Taylor Loft that fit like a dream! They are classy without looking frou-frou. The best thing is...the COLOR! It took me years to find this color red. They are the perfect berry red. No orange, burgundy, or Georgia bulldog red here. Pure, true, perfect (for me) red.........and one of them is in the mouth of the 6 month, 55 lb, chocolate, standard poodle.

"NOOOOOOOO!!!! Baron Von Hershey, NO!"

Mind you the shoe was next to the mate in a shoe organizer hanging on the inside of my closet door. Not carelessly laying around here folks. He has been gnawing on in for awhile and apparently was not aware of its value. As he hears my voice and sees me coming for the shoe, he does what any other dog would do. He takes it in his mouth and RUNS.

NOOOOO! And the race is on! Around the house we go. I try pretending that I don't care about the shoe and hope he will lose interest, but that does not work. His powers of evil are to0 great. Back to the chase then. I finally have him as we come around the corner into the sitting room when he is going faster than his body has coordination for and skids across the recently cleaned wood floor. I try to come to a complete stop but in avoiding the dog I find myself tripping and falling. This freaks the bobcat sized Maine Coon cat who throws himself into the fray.

In the end my foot is wedged between 55 lbs of poodle, a case opening of a door and 30 lbs of hissing cat. (and of course I am totally giggling...and in pain)

But, I am holding my shoe. My poor dead, chewed up....and....spit out shoe *sob*!

I am also now late for work and need to throw on a different outfit.....doggone it!!!!

My outfit would look better with amazing boots. However, my toe would have none of that!!! It was still throbbing. Fine. Flats.
I came in the door at work and showed Joy my shoe. She confirms time of death. We have a ceremony.

**My Atty wants me to add that no animals were harmed in the making of this outfit. heehee

Tunic, leggings & jewelry = Ann Taylor Loft
Shoes = Bandolino (grey tweed with buckles) gift from my sister Charlotte. How cool!

Jacket = Romeo & Juliet Couture (thrifted from Park City when I was at the Sundance Film festival....good movies and great clothing finds!)
Have a wonderful day to our readers! We love you and thanks for stopping by!

Red Cape and Randomness

This is my fabulous, new red cape!! It was clearance at Coldwater Creek and was $10 WITH shipping!!Ruffles, red and clearance?! I snapped it right up. As soon as I saw it, I knew I wanted to wear it with this Lemon Grass leopard print shirt that I got at PS Too for $7!  Have I mentioned how much I love RED?  It's my FAVORITE color!!

Yesterday my accessories were more exciting than what I actually had on. So I just took a picture of them. My shoes are Nickels and were a thrift store find at $2.50!! And I just love the purple in the scarf and necklace.

So, my iron broke Sunday night. As much as I hate to iron, it is a necessity. I had to take our clothes to my mama's house Sunday night! And no, she wouldn't iron them for me!  I asked Ben to pick one up on the way home Monday night.  Well, he did. And the iron works fine, but only a man comes home with an iron that is reminiscent of a race car!! What do you think of it?

Whoa There!

Howdy Y'all! For Halloween I thought I would round up some varmints and make the west (or the KOA Kampground in Cherokee, NC) a little safer. Yep, I am the new "She-riff" in town.

We raked leaves, and then borrowed this!
I love it! It blows, sucks, chops and I just dump it out! Yay!

Although my kids pointed out that doing it the old fashioned way does have advantages
I agree.

A Conversation

Lise: One of us should break down, take one for the team and wear thigh high socks.

Joy: We're too old.

Lise: Who cares, they...

Joy:  Nooo..

Lise: But they are only 3.50 at Target!

Joy: NO!

Lise: Are you sure? You sound undecided.

Joy: <sigh> Well, you would look less Amish...er, Mormon...

Lise: <giggle, giggle, snort>

What do you think about thigh high socks? OR thigh high socks and sandals, open toed shoes?
