Delta Dawn, What's That Flower You Have On?

Still in Pink!!

That song has been in my head ALL.DAY.LONG!! And now, it's in your's!! Bwahahahahaha!!

Welcome to Monday!! It's the start of a new week. Anyone got anything exciting going on this week? Anyone? Yeah. Me, neither. Just work, kids, housework, the same old, same old. But my shirt looks festive!
Lise and I apparently had the same idea today. We both wore t shirts embellished with flowers. I love embellished t shirts. I don't think I've really ever seen one that I didn't like.

How are your Halloween plans coming along? Are you dressing up? Are your kids dressing up? I've got a costume in the works. I'm thinking vampire, maybe even a little bit steampunked vampire. I found this khaki coatdress for **$3** at PS Too. My husband dyed it black for me. It actually came out a really cool chocolate brown. He's dyeing it again, today, and I'm hopeful that it will end up black. Either way will be fine, though. The kids pretty much have their costumes together. Girl child's took some doing because the one she wanted was $30! Uh, no. So, I bid on a couple like it on Ebay and kept losing. Finally, last night, I found one that was a Buy It Now, and I bought it. She's happy.

Alright, everyone, have a fabulous week!!

It's A Beautiful Day!!

It's a true fall day. Sunny, a little cool and just flat out beautiful! And what did I do on this fine day? I went to the grocery store. <groan> I'm not sure why the people in this house insist on eating every.single.day! I'm just teasing, but I really do not enjoy going to the grocery store. And it was PACKED!! Oh well. At least I'm done with that for the next 10 days. Maybe.  While I was gone, the kids did do a little cleaning up. And they helped me unload groceries. I think I'll keep them.
My Dawgs won homecoming today, so that also made the day a little bit brighter! I wish I could have been between the hedges with them!!

So, I broke down and bought some jeggings. I said I wasn't going to, but too many bloggers have made them look too cute for me not to try. And actually, I think I like them. There aren't unlike my skinny jeans, but they are way more comfortable. And I think they'll fit tucked into boots nicely. BUT, I have seen stirrup pants out there, ladies. And to that, I have to just say NOOOOOO!!!! Looking back on pictures from the 80s, when they were all the rage, and all I can think is WHAT WERE WE THINKING?!! They are just not attractive!! Don't buy them!! Don't be lured in by colorful ads and catchy commercials. Whomever thought they were a good idea did NOT live thru the trend the first time!

Have a great weekend, y'all! Get out there and enjoy the sunshine and all the changing colors!!

Catwalk worthy Couture (that won't take 9 lives to pay for)

This morning we were running late and after getting the hairdresser out the door, signing 27 papers that go back to school, driving 4 kids to 3 schools, I got to chase the standard poodle around the neighborhood in what was a really fun game for ONE of us. Whew. (Was the cat and other dog not enough? Didn't I hear 5 people promise they would help with the pets? hmmm..)

Back to me. I remember it is Friday so we can wear jeans to work. Yay. I grab my *new* shoes that are the most gorgeous shoes I have ever, ever (ever) seen in my entire life!! They speak for themselves, and make quite a statement. So, I paired them with a simple white shirt and fabumor (more than just plain fabulous) chunky necklace. I feel like I could strut the catwalk in this ensemble! Not to worry, this does not come with the usual designer price tag.
Out the door and off to work feeling g-o-o-d! Wait....did I forget something?
I can always put make-up on when I get to work. I have a 5 and 15 minute routine. This morning was more like 2 seconds. Who cares, know one is looking. *click*
"JOY!!!! Did you just take my picture???? omg."

Jeans=Gap (These are my favorite and they are long enough!!!-thank you GAP)

Shirt=Anne Fontaine (look, the belt is part of the shirt and it has a perfect collar and cuffs and the sleeves are long enough) St. Marys Thrift Store (benefits hospice care)
Necklace=Ann Taylor Loft (bought with $25 off a $50 purchase card)
Sunglasses=Tifosi (they are black, silver and pink). Style name? Lust. Any more questions?

Save the Ta-Tas!!

I am liking this dress! It pushes me up in all the right places!! And now that I have your attention, we're gonna talk about something very important today, self breast exams.

All women over 20 should do monthly self breast exams. This is so very important. These self exams can usually find cancer before a mammogram will! It should usually be done about 7 days after you start your period. If you feel a lump or anything unusual, you should consult your doctor. BUT don't freak out! 9 out of 10 women will not develop breast cancer. Usually, these aren't lumps that come and go. They stick around and feel kinda like a pea. If you have any pain in your breasts, you should get it checked out. Also, if you see any blood or you have a change in the contour or shape or dimpling of the skin, you should definitely be checked out. But always, if you are worried, do not hesitate to go get checked. No one is going to think you are stupid or crazy. It's better to be safe than sorry!! And early prevention is THE key to survival. Talk to your daughters about doing monthly breast exams. Talk to your moms, your sisters, your aunts and your best friend. This is nothing to be embarrassed about. We want to save ALL the ta-tas!!

Follow this link to see how exactly a good breast exam should be done.   And you can sign up for emails to be reminded to do your breast exam here.  OR you can sign up for a text message here.

And now that I know that you will all be doing your monthly exams, I am jumping for joy!! YAY!!

Rocking Butterflies!

Usually when I think about butterflies, I imagine cute little girls in fields of flowers and butterfly nets or something. Not a grown up image. However, Joy has done such a good job wearing something pink every day for the month of October and I, well.....haven't. So, after combing through my closet, I found a pink and white crisp Ralph Lauren button-down. I used to wear pink all the time and had a plethora of pink in my closet. I am not sure what happened, but now it is usually a no-show color in my shopping bag.

I paired the shirt with navy capri's from Ann Taylor Loft (yes, pink and navy go together and look quite smashing). But I really needed some some splash to offset the look from being too conservative and boring. I don't mind conservative clothes, but a touch of fun makes me smile even more!

Back to the closet.....and....Voila!....

One of the most fabulous pairs of shoes ever created!!!

Seriously, these were created. They are by Cydney Mandel, and came from Beverly Hills and cost (new) upwards of $300 (I am NOT kidding, go google it). But, the most impressive thing about these? I found them at a garage sale. Like new. Gorgeous. Perfect. And not $300.
It was lust at first sight. I did a close-up so you could see that there is a BEE on the butterfly flower!!! Heaven. My feet did a happy dance when I put them on.

I suppose the message today (because this has been an interesting few days-and thanks Joy for taking the kids so I could go to the funeral) is to sometimes buy something because it makes you smile. Because it makes you feel good. I look at these shoes and they make me smile. And my shirt is smiling because it isn't so boring anymore.

Cheers!!!!

It's A Half Day!!

The kids are out for early release today (and yesterday) for Parent Teacher conferences. I'm a bad parent, I guess. I opted for no conference. But I keep up with my kids teachers via email all the time. I just didn't feel like I needed to go in.  And I get out of work early, too! Sadly, Lise has a funeral and her kids are going to come to my house for awhile. My kids will be THRILLED!! It will be a fun, if not loud, afternoon!!

For all you doing the pink challenge, how is it going? It's getting harder and harder to work that pink in, isn't it? I'm going to need it to cool off some so I can wear a few other pieces.

And we're still collecting, y'all. Please bring us by some items for our local cancer centers!!
Close up just to show my cute owl pendant!
