Post Dragon*Con Depression

Post Dragon*Con Depression.  It's a real thing. There's a Facebook group for it and everything!

<sigh> I miss Dragon*Con. I miss seeing cute boys and cool costumes.  I miss going to a party and seeing a celebrity or five.  I miss making friends with perfect strangers over a shared love of a movie or tv show.  I may even miss the long lines....nah, that's taking it to far.

I may miss it so much that I've subconsciously tried to still dress in a Dragon*Con kind of way.  Or I'm just a geek.  Either way...

Tuesday, I may have built my entire outfit around a Superman necklace that I bought at the con. One of my favorite stores, Sparkle, always has a fabulous booth there.  They always have THE cutest things.  My other bottlecap necklace is from there, too. And most all the buttons that I have pinned to my lanyard. (They were about the only ones to have any jewelry related to The Hunger Games!)

Cute, huh? It reminds me of Ben because he is such a die hard Superman fan.

Navy Capris: Thrifted from somewhere
Red Sandals: Payless
Checked Scarf: Claire's

And then today I was apparently thinking about Firefly. After I looked in the mirror, I thought, Hmmm...if these cargo pants were actually coveralls, I'd have a pretty good Kaylee outfit.

Yeah, I know it's not a really good representation but in my post Dragon*Con depression, it made me feel better, ok?! Don't judge me.

Tonight, I bought our tickets for next year.  I'll be okay.  I'll make it.  Only 358 days to go...

(No post, that mentions Firefly, would be complete without this picture!!)

  1. One of my colleagues was talking about DragonCon today and saying that sales of books were down there this year. It was part of a discussion about the rise of e-publishing. You'll make it--358 days.

  3. You look fabulous, dahling!
I guess I have to read Hunger Games (in between theology, school started this week). I haven't heard anything about it, but a lot of people seem to have read it.
You can spend the 358 days thrifting for fabulous costumes for the next DragonCon!!! Maybe you can talk Lise into going!! :)

  4. The Hunger Games is seriously the best trilogy I have e ever read. Really. It's that good. I couldn't even read anything else for 2 months, after I read it. Nothing compared, nothing was as good. BUT I will NOT see the movies because they can NOT compare to what I envisioned as I read it.

I would LOVE LOVE for Lise to go! She'd have a blast. But she has 4 kids and a couple are younger than mine. It's hard to leave that many kids for 4 days. :/

  7. I lost some weight at DC. You run around from morning til night and you have to actually REMEMBER to eat! It's insane. And I really cut back the last couple of months leading up to DC. I had a corset to get into! I have been living off turkey pepporoni, cheese cubes, grapes and strawberries. That's usually what I eat during the day. And I eat whatever at supper. I don't eat bread, though. Bread is of the devil! If I'd actually exercise, I might get down to my pre-children weight. But that's like another 15 lbs or so. I don't really see it happening!

Brett, it's exactly like the CMA depression!!

Missy, I got that scarf for $3 off the Claire's clearance rack!! I LURVE clearance racks!!

  9. You're the first person I know who has heard of Firefly! I loved that show (I only saw it after it had been cancelled -- my son got the DVD set, and we watched it together!). I can't believe it was cancelled! so bummed. That first outfit is great!
