G I Blues and 68 Comeback Special!

They give us a room with a view of the beautiful Rhine, They give us a room with a view of the beautiful Rhine, Gimme a muddy old creek in Texas any old time.

In 58 Elvis entered the Army and school girls everywhere cried!  He was a handsome devil in his uniform! So I wore my army green skinny cargo pants and black heeled boots. I'm sure they wore this in the army in 58, right? I threw my husband's army coat over my outfit. I actually think this was either his dad's or his brother's from when they were in service.

There's a lot of green in this picture.

68 Comeback Special

Full disclosure here. The following outfit was meant to be worn today, Thursday. I always try stuff on the night before to make sure it's going to work. I got Ben to just go ahead and take pictures of me because I am so rushed in the morning. And then he gets his guitar out to add to it. Well, it's a good thing we did this because I was up all night with my poor puppy having seizures. He's always had them. He's seriously medicated for them, but you never know when they are going to happen. He went for a record breaking 71 days between seizure cycles this time. And I say cycles because this will go on for 3-5 days. He will have one every hour or every few hours. We just never know. One thing for sure, though, is it's exhausting. I didn't come in to work until 11:30. So this outfit was INTENDED to be worn today but what I actually have on is a State Farm sweatshirt and jeans.

I don't have leather pants. These pants are black velvet. (Hmmm...There's a fabulous song about Elvis called Black Velvet.) And I got them on clearance at Eddie Bauer for $11! But I do have a black leather coat. I added a little bling with my sequin scarf and I wore heels. I'm sure Elvis didn't wear heels. LOL  The guitar, like I said, was Ben's idea. You have no idea how many pictures he took. I told him I just thought he liked the idea of girls and guitars!

The lighting is kinda wonky on this one and I look like I have 2 black eyes but I thought it was fun. I was singing to Ben. See my pretend microphone?

  2. I can totally see the microphone and I love all your Elvis take-offs. Feeling concerned about your dog. What breed is it? My folks suffered through the same with a miniature schnauzer.

  4. Lise, it's because you're Amish! LOL

Here's all the lyrics. Once you read them, you'll know that it's about Elvis.

Mississippi in the middle of a dry spell
Jimmy Rogers on the Victrola up high
Mama's dancin' with baby on her shoulder
The sun is settin' like molasses in the sky
The boy could sing, knew how to move, everything
Always wanting more, he'd leave you longing for

Black velvet and that little boy's smile

A new religion that'll bring ya to your knees
    Black velvet if you please

Up in Memphis the music's like a heatwave
White lightening, bound to drive you wild
Mama's baby's in the heart of every school girl
"Love me tender" leaves 'em cryin' in the aisle
The way he moved, it was a sin, so sweet and true
Always wanting more, he'd leave you longing for

Black velvet and that little boy's smile
Black velvet with that slow southern style
A new religion that'll bring ya to your knees
    Black velvet if you please

Every word of every song that he sang was for you
In a flash he was gone, it happened so soon, what could you do?

  5. Terri, he's a chihuahua. I could spend thousands of dollars to find out if has a tumor or something, but even if he does, there's nothing you can do about it. So, we just love him and medicate and deal.

  7. I LOVE the black leather. I could totally dig wearing something like that. I like the shoes you paired with it.
I am so proud of myself now that I actually knew that song was about Elvis.
By the way, Lise told me that you and my sis, Elizabeth Larkins, are friends. I mentioned you to her and says to tell you hello. She and my daughter, Miriam, are having a slumber party this weekend. They are just alike. :-)
