Snow Day! 1-11-11

I Love Snow!!!  I was born and raised in Indiana and just love snow!
And we got enough here in Georgia to rival Indiana.  As a matter of fact, I just got off the phone with my sister, Charlotte, for the first time ever, her son and my kids have snow days on the same day!! cool.
*They just announced no school tomorrow either! *

So, we build the snowmen and throw snowballs and drink hot chocolate with marshmallows and snuggle by the fire, and make Ida promise that she won't try to walk home in the snow!
Sledding around the pool.  I love the contrast!
But, what else can we think of doing today?  Hmmmmmm....hey, lets get the luggage carrier out and climb in it and shove each other down the really steep hill in the neighborhood and call it the Coffin Slider!!!
I'm in.  No, really I am in the coffin slider and let me tell you....It was quite a freaky/awesome ride!
Everyone must try this and I realize that by showing you these pictures you will see that I have serious redneck in me or something.  But, you have to get creative people!
A little hard to control, but no one was hurt and Isak even still has his glasses on! Sweet!

This is my Narnia picture. Snow on the lamppost!
So, in the first picture I am wearing my favorite boots (do I say that about all my boots?)
Boots: Sketchers
Sweater: PacSun
Gloves: Coach
Jeans: Gap (thrifted)
Scarf: Banana Republic
Head wrap: Walmart

No, I am not wearing a coat.  I have really strong Viking blood in me and.....I was running around and got hot.  I did have a coat on later.

How is the weather where you are?  Do you all have power?  Are you reading any good books? And if so what are they?  I would love some recommendations!

  2. You look like a little snow bunny in your white sweater and headband!

We don't have snow in Florida. I love it. Today the high is 72 or something. Yep - I'm never leaving. :)

  5. How fun to ride in the luggage carrier
Our street is the preferred sledding area for the our neck of the neighborhood. It is very steep and goes into a cul-de-sac.
School hasn't been officially canceled for tomorrow yet, but I am thinking it will be.
I am ready for some sunshine!!

  6. I think you have given me my laugh for the day. The luggage carrier sled is a GREAT idea, although I can see DH cringing if I tried it. Happy snow day!

  7. That looks like so much fun! And you look so cute! Here in Seattle, we are holding our breath hoping to get 1/2" to 3" of snow tonight, but I doubt it will even come.

RE: Books: I'm enjoying Hotel on the Corner of Bitter and Sweet and I just finished Water for Elephants and I loved it!

  9. Love the luggage compartment/sled! Have fun--you will be able to enjoy a normal life in a few days. Us, on the other hand, will be suffocated by feet of snow that makes your windows go dark--because the drifts go over them, the streets too narrow to drive, and unwalkable streets and sidewalks. Can you tell I hate snow? Sorry~Paula

  10. I will now stop complaining about the cold Nor-Cal weather, as I have no snow. You make Snowmageddon seem fun!

  11. Everyone in the South seems to be making the best of an unusual day, but you are clearly having the most fun!
Try the Gilded Age mysteries by PB Ryan. And are you familiar with the Mitford series?
Waiting for the snow to start up here, expecting 1-2 feet.

  13. Your unconventional sled looks like fun. I'm sure it's beautiful in the hills of Monroe County (and in Brown County too). I'm in Indy and we have plenty of snow, thank you very much, and are ready for it to be GONE.

  14. Donna, sorry! I am sending lots of prayers that the snow will be gone soon up there. My sisters said the same thing "Lise, up here in Hoosierland we are ready for it to be gone!"

I hate to admit it, but now that its all pretty much ice, I am over it too

  15. I LOVE snow, too! What part of Indiana are you from? I come from a long line of Boilermakers. My dad was born in Lafayette. Love how you're wearing white! Snow Queen! :)
